It was one of those days when the children screaming "Mommy!" were getting on my very last nerve.
"Mommy! he's touching me!"
"Mom! I had it first!"
"Mommy, I want a cookie!"
"Mom, It's HIS turn to feed the dog!"
"MoOom!! He took my seat!!"
"Mommy, are you going potty in that Baffroom?"
I couldn't take it anymore.
My eye began to twitch.
I decided I was no longer Mommy.
"Mommy?" called the Little-Foreman-in-Pink from her car booster-seat for the 7000th time.
*silence*
"Mommy?
"Mommy isn't here" I said.
"Mommy... your right there." she giggled.
"Nope.. mommy needed a vacation.. My name is George, Nice to meet you."
"Oh, Hi George!... can you stop at McDonalds? I'm firsty and want a drink."
"Nope.. we are on our way home and your mommy told me you can have a drink there."
**sigh** "ok"
This went on for the rest of the day.
I was now George.
The funny thing is, they actually seemed to listen to "George" better than they did "Mommy."
This first George appearance happened about 4 months ago.
Just this morning I was in the bathroom doing what one does in the bathroom.
A small voice called me from the other side of the door.
"Mommy? what you doing in there?"
"I'll be out soon.. go away" I replied.
"Mommy?"
*silence*
"Mommy??"
..."George?"
I couldn't help but laugh.

15 amazing comments. Talk To Me!!:
That is hilarious! Very clever of you. It's funny how the kids responded to George.
So funny...that's why we have the House Fairy come to check bedrooms instead of just mommy... www.thehousefairy.org (I think that is the right address...)
The oh so smooth way to the looney house is around the corner! Your kids will be doing the driving, don't you worry!
What a funny, funny post.
I once told my kids that my name wasn't mom anymore. They asked what it was and I told them I wasn't going to tell them. My oldest popped up with "I know what it is. It's Cranky."
Omg, this is too funny!
AHHHH! This is hilarious!
You know, my mom pulled this, but didn't have your imagination. (She also only had one kid: me.) After half a bazillion "Mommys" she told me her name was not 'Mommy". So I asked her what it was. She said, "I'm not telling you." HA! It worked!
You're a riot...I am sitting here at work laughing to myself.
Love it!
Hugz,
Michele
omg... that was awesome!
LOL it's wonderful when they think of things on their own don't they? Chin up :) you seem to be doing just fine
This is my response to the boys:
"Mom!"
"Mooom!"
"Moooooooooooooooooom!"
Me:
"I'm not here!... if it's you (who's calling me).

That is so funny. So maybe you should be George more often.
Hang in there your doing great.

It's amazing what they remember, isn't it?
Boy, I feel your pain. Or maybe I should say, "Because of my boy, I feel your pain." It's bad when your 17 mo. old is tattling on his older brother and sister.
Gee, they learn early!
Loved your article about Barry Manilow, too. I even made my newlywed hubby take me to one of his concerts. What was I thinking?
LOL EVEN better! I might have to use that. Thanks for the inspiration! lol
