Howdy from the war zone

just wanted to pop in and say howdy from the disaster zone.
When I slowly made my way into out neck of the woods, I was shocked at the condition of the area.

I swear, it looks like a war zone.
There is not one house on our road un-touched.
I'd say no fewer than 3/4 of the homes have large trees on them.

There are power lines littering the roadways.
Debris everywhere.
Fences crushed.
Livestock wandering around dazed and confused.

They tell us to expect to be without electricity for 4-6 weeks MINIMUM!
There is no gas.
No ice.
and those who didn't stock up ahead of time, will be withouht food very shortly.

I have taken pictures, I'll post them when I can, I'll also post updates as I can get my hands on a signal for the lap-top.

till then, we are hunkering down, enjoying the Texas Heat. rain, mosquitoes, and work.

stay safe y'all

I'm so glad that you and yours are safe and sound. It sounds like you have a lot of work to do, though.
How are your critters? How is your home?
I've been thinking about you and keeping you in my prayers.

I am glad you are all safe and I hope the damage to your little corner of the world is repairable. How are all your critters? How are the kids taking seeing their home and neighborhood looking like a war zone? I've heard some kids can suffer from some PTSD symptoms when their homes are affected by natural disasters.

WOW! 4-6 weeks! Here in NE Ohio we had some bad winds and the power was out for a few hours and I realized how UN-prepared we are! I am so glad to hear that everyone is safe. I hope that your house was not damaged and hope and prayer that all of your animals are ok. Please keep us updated.

Dana, if there is anything we can do to help, please let me know. We sure wouldn't mind taking a ride out there. It's only a couple of hours. Most of our stores have reopened here so we have access to some supplies. I really, really mean that. Just let me know by the weekend. 5Wrights@Hughes.net

Dana, I'm so glad you are safe and hope there was minimal damage to your farm/critters. We got hit kinda hard here in NE TX, SW AR. A big pecan tree in our yard landed on our neighbor's roof. So, I can just imagine what it must look like there. Margie

I am thinking about you and all people in Texas affected (boy affected is kind of an understatement) by this storm. I am hoping more crews from other states get out there - maybe electricity will come back faster than hoped. I can't imagine how hot and how hard this is. Please take care.
