I am so glad that they want to learn.
Of course, it may have something to do with the fact that I told them that women love a man that can cook and clean.
They took it upon themselves to make a dessert for our Thanksgiving Dinner.
Cake Balls
This is a super-easy recipe that uses good old boxed cake mix.Cake Balls.
Ingredients.
One box cake mix any flavor.
One can of frosting any flavor.
Candy Bark coating.
Directions.
1.) Bake the cake according to the directions on the box. (we bake it in a 13x9 pan) allow it to cool completely.
2.) When cake is completely cool, crumble it into cake crumbs. You do not want any large pieces left.
3.) add approx half of the container of frosting to the cake crumbs. Work it together until it is a molding clay-like consistency. (add more frosting if needed)
4.) Roll your cake-clay into approx 1 inch balls. Chill.
5.) Melt your candy bark coating.
6.) roll each chilled cake ball into the melted candy coating, set on parchment or wax paper to set up.

OOO that sounds like a wonderful treat for any holiday. I'll be taking this with me to make when we do our candy night with a few other ladies and my mom. FUN TIME.
They look really yummy!
I'm going to try those with my children!
I can feel my teeth rotting just thinking about that!
(But I think I'll make it anyway...Thanks!)
These are so good aren't they? I made them for Thanksgiving too. I used spice cake with vanilla icing and rolled them in the white bark. I tried to tint the bark different fall colors but my colors made my candy seize up. It would have been such a pretty centerpiece on the dessert table. Oh well.
I love cake balls. So easy yet so tasty! To be quite frank I don't even need them to be dipped. I like 'em just like that! Your sons' came out spendidly.

Wendy, you can purchase different colored candy bits to melt and put on them. I get them at a craft store near us.
Your blog is well-run.
