Baby It's Cold Outside.

It's chilly at the farm!
What do you serve when it's chilly outside?
Chili of course!
This is my favorite chili recipe.
Don't let the rather long list of ingredients scare ya.
It's worth it!!
Make plenty.. it's even better the next day!
Dana's It's Chilly Outside Chili.

  • 2 onions, chopped
  • 2 bell peppers, chopped
  • 3 cloves garlic, minced
  • 1 lb lean ground beef
  • 1 lb lean stew meat, small cubes
  • 1 (14 1/2 ounce) can diced tomatoes (undrained)
  • 1 cup water OR 1 can dark beer
  • 1 cup strong coffee
  • 2 (6 ounce) cans tomato paste
  • 1 can beef broth
  • 1/4 cup brown sugar
  • 3 tablespoons chili powder
  • 1 tablespoon cumin
  • 1 tablespoon unsweetened cocoa powder
  • 1 teaspoon oregano
  • 1 - 2 teaspoons cayenne pepper
  • 1 1/2 teaspoons salt
  • 2 (15 ounce) cans kidney beans (undrained)
  • 2 - 4 chili peppers, chopped (I use Anaheim peppers)
  • Shredded cheddar cheese, sour cream, crackers - toppings of your choice.

  1. Heat oil.
  2. Cook onions, garlic and meat until brown.
  3. Add tomatoes, beer, coffee, tomato paste and beef broth.
  4. Add spices Stir in kidney beans and peppers.

I have been looking for a good chilli recipe for ages.
I didn't know they used ground beef and the cubes.
I am gonna try this for sure for a weekend .

I'm sorry, but this is NOT Texas chili by any stretch of the imigination.

If I made chili like this for my bofriend "Big Bear" he would probably put me in the hospital again.

That's why we had to leave Florida in a hurry and move to Atlanta, but I still love my my boyfriend, David.

Your right, a true Texas chili would not have beans nor any tomato products in it.
I didn't say it was a Texas chili..
I did, however, say it's the BEST chili! ;)

I can hardly wait to try this recipe. I have tried several of your other recipes and this one promises to be awesome too!

This year instead of having a big Christmas dinner for my family, we are doing a soup/sandwich buffet and cookie swap. Since I am in charge of providing the soups, I will be making your chili and some homemade vegetable soup.

Thanks again for providing the recipe.

The last (and only time) I made my own chili, it tasted like spaghetti sauce! Not enough spices, I'm guessing. Yours looks good, maybe I'll try your recipe next time.

Your chili recipe is really tasty! I'm making it again today!

I'm not able to leave "well-enough" alone and I've futzed with it a little bit, though. I put a little more cubed meat in because my wife really liked the idea of cubed meat. Plus, I used 2 anaheims and 1 scotch bonnet last time because we like stuff spicey.

But, it started out delicious even before I customized it a little bit. This one has officially been transcribed on a little card and stuck in the box above the sink!!

Thanks for sharing.
