Life Lesson #327 (Why 3?)

That first cup of Coffee in the morning,
The Smell of a camp-fire,
Making Home-made bread,
Fall Leaves,
A brand-new pen that writes like silk,
The Cold side of the pillow,
Chewable Ice cubes,
Hearing an old song that takes you back in time,
Old broken-in Blue Jeans,
The first scoop out of a new jar of Peanut-Butter,
Home-Grown tomatoes,
A soft fluffy towel that's big enough to completely wrap all the way around my big butt,
Milky Way candy bars,
Coffee,
The smell of fresh cut grass,
Eating wild chives straight out of the yard,
Real Apple Cider,
Good Hair Days,
Hearing my children giggle together in the next room,
Sunsets,
Sunrises,
Rainbows,
Thunder storms,
The smell of rain,
Fitting into once-too-tight Jeans,
Being the first to walk in freshly-fallen snow,
Holding Hands,
Having all bills paid,
A kitten purring,
Home-Grown eggs,
The top off my Jeep,
Winding country roads,
Sleeping in,
Family Dinners,
Humming birds,
S'mores,
Silence,
A good cry,
An unexpected phone call from an old friend,
Looking through old photos,
Tossing pebbles into the pond,

Don't Over-Look Life's Small Joys Because You're Too Busy Searching For The BIG Ones!

Everybody always asks me why my logo (and the name of my company) is a 3-Leaf clover and not a 4 leaf.

Well... The 3-Leaf Clover stands for "Happiness" and I find that most people are so busy chasing "Luck" or that 4-Leaf Clover, that they end up overlooking the happiness that is right in front of them!

...Something to think about.

Random Questions...

  • Why are the seats on bikes so darn small? Do the makers of bicycles really think only skinny-little-butt people want to feel the freedom of the wind blowing through their hair while they ride a bike? I have a big enough problem with pantie-wedgies! Do I really need a bike seat wedgie too? I'd like to set up a meeting with Lazy-Boy.. they could take their business in a whole new direction!
  • Why can't the hair on my head grow as fast as the hair on my legs? Seriously! I wait forever for my hair to grow out so I can try a new style, but have to shave my legs every darn day because it grows so fast! (ok.. I don't shave them everyday, I usually wait until my rings get tangled in the leg-hair when I scratch my knee before I shave them. But they SHOULD be shaved daily)
  • How is it possible for my children to hear the Man-of-My-Dreams and I whispering in our bedroom with the door closed when we are talking about Christmas gifts, but I have to yell their names 4 times before they hear me asking them to do empty the dishwasher?
  • Why doesn't the phone ring when I remember to take it into the bathroom with me? But every time I forget it, I have to stop mid-stream and run like a penguin to answer it?!?!
  • Why must the moths just sit there on the window screen and watch me?
  • Why does morning come so freaking early?
  • Why can't wheat germ taste good? and Why can't chocolate and butter and heavy cream taste bad? It's just not fair.
  • Who are all these children?... and WHY are they calling me Mom???

It's The Little Things....

I mentioned last week that things have been pretty hectic around here.
I have found myself in quite the "funk".

When I find myself in a funk,
I grab my camera and take a walk...

It helps me to see the world around me from a different perspective.
It's amazing how much better it makes me feel!

Instead of a dormant for the winter, half-dead tree,
I see the contrast of the cool Fall against a beautiful blue sky.

I couldn't help but giggle at these silly buds who obviously don't know what time of year it is.

Who could walk by this fluffy & cuddly ball of fur without snuggling with him and smiling?

Even something as simple as leaves from my banana tree,
begin to look glorious, with that brilliant blue sky as their backdrop.

Then I heard this fella calling to me.

He made it possible for the Little-Foreman-in-Pink to become the envy of every other girl in her Kindergarten class.

Because she actually DID get a pony for her birthday.

After walking around the farm for awhile looking at it through a new set of eyes, I begin to notice the little things that I may have just walked by the day before.

Like this fiery-yellow fall leaf.

Oh, how I love Fall!

I'm envious of the fat barn cat who rolls up against the bottom of an Old Oak tree, soaking up his sun-beam.

What a life!

Even looking at something as mundane as the fire-wood pile.
The Man-of-My-Dreams and the boys worked so hard clearing, cutting, and splitting it for the winter.

Seeing a full wood pile makes me feel safe and secure and ready for anything.

I realize I don't have to wait for Thanksgiving to be thankful...

No matter how bad things seem,
I have everything I need, and more that I could ever want.

This guy tho?
Um....
He's got about another week to walk around the farm.
He'll be our guest of honor for Thanksgiving.

He better get to it!

Daily Farm Randomness...

The Gestational period for a cow = 284 days,
or about 9 months & 10 days.

This means our first ever calf is due on
August 10th or 11th...
The little slut snuck out to visit the neighbors Bull last Halloween!

I really thought we raised her better than that!!

We were so ashamed,
we considered sending her to a barn for wayward heifers,
but decided to support her in her journey to single parenthood.

And, of course, the Bull has had nothing to do with her since their late-night romp!
I guess she has to learn the hard way.
