Top secret recipe for these New Years Eve delights!


I was gonna post this one when I made em for New Years Eve....
But then I realized that you wouldn't be able to make them then if you didn't know about them before that day! Geesh I am kind-of dingy that way sometimes.

Even non-sauerkraut eaters will like this one!

This recipe is a MUST for any New Years Eve at our place.
I remember eating these when I was a child living up north.
It took me years and a trip back to Pennsylvania to find the recipe.
They are GREAT!
They are crispy, gooey, cheesy, sauerkrauty, sausagy, just the way to start the new year!

These freeze wonderfully!
And that helps when its busy Holiday season!
Make em ahead and freeze till ready to use.
Then reheat in a 375 oven for approx 10 min or until heated through

The Worlds BEST
Crisp Sauerkraut Balls
•¼ C Onion, finely chopped

•½ lb ground pork sausage

•1 16oz can sauerkraut (chopped & drained)

•1 T. fine dry bread crumbs

•1 3oz. pkg cream cheese (softened)

•2 T. parsley

•1 t. yellow mustard

•¼ t. garlic salt

•1/8 t black pepper

•2 Lg eggs

•¼ C milk

•½ C. flour

•1 C breadcrumbs

•Oil for frying

Directions:

1.Combine & Brown sausage & onion.

2.Add sauerkraut & 2 T Breadcrumbs

3.In a large bowl, Combine; cream cheese, Parsley, 1 tsp Mustard, garlic salt & pepper.

4.Add sausage mixture to Cream cheese mixture, Stir well.

5.Chill 2 hours.

6.Combine eggs & milk, set aside

7.Shape chilled sausage mixture into 1 inch balls. Roll in flour, dip in egg/milk mixture, and roll in bread crumbs.

8.Drop balls into approx 2’ of cooking oil (375 degrees) till golden brown.

9.Drain on paper towels.

Serve w/ dipping sauce (below)
Great served hot or room temperature

Dipping Sauce

Stir together;
1 Cup Mayonnaise
¼ Cup Yellow Mustard

Enjoy!!
This recipe is forgiving... when I'm doubling it (I ALWAYS at least double it) I use a 8oz package of cream cheese.

I fixed these tonight for dinner and got rave reviews! This is definitly a keeper in my house.
I made a recipe book for my children at Christmas and every year I am going to add more recipes. My son said to make sure this one went in and he loved them too!
