Friday was no different.
Let me set the scene...
Worker #3 had to stay after school for choir rehearsal.
Often, when I have to go somewhere with only one of the kids, we stop for an ice cream cone or something a little bit special.. just that one child and me. (noooo it's all about the kid really... it has nothing to do with the fact that their fat-&-dieting-Mommy would like some cold, creamy, sweet, yummy, ice cream, really....)
Anyway... 16 yr old worker #1 jumped into my car right before I pulled out of the driveway, I was on the phone so I didn't think to throw him out, even though I had told him he was not going with me. I stopped the car a couple of houses down the road and tried to evict him.... he didn't want to get out of the car, so I jokingly told him... "fine! then you get into the back , lay down, and your NOT here!"
He did just that.
So I drove on to the school to pick up worker #3 with a hiding 16 yr old in the back of my vehicle.
He was ready and waiting for me when I pulled up to the school.
As we left, we decided it was a great day to stop for a strawberry milk shake.
Worker #3 and I were chatting away as we drove towards our farm, when he sneezed.
A second later my cell phone buzzed me saying I had received a text message.
I told worker #3 to read it to me.
The text simply said....
Bless You B - M (M is worker #1's girlfriend, he had her phone in his pocket)
Worker #3's eyes were HUGE!
"Mom! someone else heard me sneeze!"
I laughed and we agreed that was a little weird and went on driving home.
We started talking about choir and he told me about the song selections for the next concert when my phone buzzed again....
Those are great songs! it said.
Worker #3 almost threw up his strawberry milkshake in his fit of nervous laughter.
"Mom!! the car is bugged!!" he said as he started looking for the microphone in my car.
This went on for the remaining 15 minute car ride to our farm.
Worker #3 would say something, then I would get a text message saying something about our conversation....
Worker #3 was seriously freaking out!
He was laughing...
He was puzzled....
I had a hard time staying on the road because it was hard to see through my tears from laughter.
We got to the house, and Worker #3 ran inside to tell his brothers what happened, giving worker #1 chance to get out of the vehicle and run into the barn undetected.
This incident has been the most talked about topic over week-end.
The boys have cleaned out my Suburban in efforts to find the bugs.
So, I see it as a win-win situation.
I got to have a great laugh.
And my vehicle is cleaner than it has been in weeks!
Oh don't worry....
We'll tell him what really happened..... someday.
