Lookie what I made! (Your thoughts please)

As you know, I live with a lot of men....
LOTS of men who like meat.
Lots of men who really REALLY like their meat.
Because I am such a loving benevolent mother & wife I decided I was going to make my carnivorous men happy.

Today I made Jerky!
I think it's nice looking jerky.
The men love it!
I, however, can't stand jerky...
What is appealing about salted, spiced-up shoe leather?
Oh well... They love it so the recipe is a keeper.
And.... I must say I'm purdy darn proud of myself.

Do you like jerky?
Am I in the minority with this stuff?

Tell me what ya think in the comments section!
Thanks!

Men-Folk-Pleasin 101 (Tater-Tot-Casserole)

Lookin for a way to get the man-or-your-dreams to propose to ya?
Well.. maybe just pledge his undying love to ya?

There are no Men-Folk round here who won't gobble this up and then try to lick the plate clean!

(this is not a picture of one I made... I am never neat enough or anywhere near Type A enough to line all the tater-tots up all pretty in rows... I just dump em on and let nature take it's course. It's pretty this way too... I guess. )

This recipe is very forgiving….
Use whatever cream soup you have on hand…
Whatever spices you like… cheese etc..
Doubles great! You can also throw it together then freeze it for later use!
Works GREAT!
I like to take this to people to heat and serve whenever they may need a meal..
new baby, home from hospital etc…
They can throw it in the freezer and make it whenever they like.
It couldnt be easier!!
Here we go.....
-------------------------------
Tater-Tot Casserole
½ C. chopped Onion
1/3 Celery (optional)
1 lb lean ground beef
Salt & pepper to taste (and any other spices you like)
1 can cream of celery, or cream of chicken soup (undiluted)
1 16oz. package frozen tater-tots
1 C. shredded Cheddar Cheese
Brown; Beef, onion & celery, drain
Stir in salt & pepper & soups
Spoon into 12 x 9 baking dish
Top w/ frozen tater-tots.

Bake 375-400 degrees approx 40min till bubbly…

Remove from oven, top w/ cheese return to oven to melt. (about 5 min)
Then Move out of the way...
The stampede is coming!!!

Men-Folk Pleasin 101 (Frosted Meatloaf)

If your Men-Folk are anything like mine, Meat and potatoes are a staple round your homestead.
The more meat the better,
The more potatoes, the better.

I have a dish for any carnivore-of-the-male-persuasion. (carnivores of the female persuasion like it too!)

Frosted Meatloaf.
Ok.... dont let the term meatloaf scare ya. It's not a usually pretty dish. It's a hunk of seasoned meat on a plate. Yummy as it may be.. it is not pretty. for most men, it's good enough, I know.
But I think we can do it better.

This is more of a technique than a recipe per say.

1.) Make your favorite Meatloaf recipe. (yes, this is my 8lb raw meatloaf, I have lots of men-folk ya know!)

2.) Cook it.
3.) make a big batch of mashed potatoes. (I made garlic mashed potatoes. again.. easy!)
4.) throw in a handful of shredded cheese of your choice, (cheddar or mozzarella are good!) This helps the mashed potatoes become a little bit elastic & spreadable.

5.) Plop your mashed potatoes on top of your meatloaf. (yes, I said plop that is a gourmet term ya know!)

6.) Frost your meatloaf with the taters. I use my icing spreader thingie. (If the taters start to stick to your spreader thingie, just smear some butter on it. then it will slide like.... well... butter.)
Ain't that purdy?

7.) Throw the whole purdy frosted thing under your broiler. (watch it closely! you just want to give it a little color and this does not take long!)

(ain't it purdier?)
8.) slice it.

9.) eat it!

Ok... it's still not really purdy, like in a magazine purdy... but its fun and different, and yummy!
I dare any male to NOT love it!
Another great idea?
Make several mini meat loaves and frost them to serve your family "Snowballs" my short people love em!
